What's Happening in Mrs. Johnson's 4th/5th Grade Class?

Hopefully you have all heard about the District's plan to make up instructional minutes lost due to flood days.  A letter came home and there is information on the school home page. It would also be helpful if you made sure that your child was completing homework and, if you have computer access at home, you can do Lexia and Dreambox with your child.  The link is on our school website homepage.  Click on it and then your child types in username and password. They all know these! Some students are done with Lexia and I am having them do Newsela, an online informational reading program.  They can do Newsela at home as well.  5th graders should diligently be working on their State Report rough drafts. During conferences I will let you know specifically what your child can be doing at home. I will be working very hard to get your child caught up during our 8-8:30 added instructional time, so please get them to school on time. Thank you for your continued support!

A Little About Myself

I have been teaching at Guerneville School since 1987.  I have taught a variety of grade levels but my favorites are 4th and 5th grades.  What I love about kids at this age level is their curiosity and enthusiasm in everything!  I enjoy teaching all subjects but science is my passion.  Hands-on science is a must!  I am also very involved in our Guerneville School Garden Program and have written curriculum that integrates all subjects including nutrition, science, and stewardship.  Some of my outside interests include spending time on the beach, swimming, cooking, reading and spending time with my family!  Guerneville School is an amazing place!
