6 Months Free Home Internet Service from Comcast
Our students did it! To continue the success they had during LearnStorm with Google/Khan Academy, Comcast is offering our students' families up to 6 months of free home internet service. The school has also received from Google/Khan Academy 24 new Chromebook laptops with a charging cart. See below for the information/restrictions.
Robin Leone, Board member, resigned on March 17, 2015. At the regularly scheduled Board meeting, May 11, 2015, the Board provisionally appointed Jane McDonough to fill this vacancy from June 2015 until December 2015.
Douglas DeVivo from the Blue Door Art Gallery in Guerneville was recently in Mrs. Deering/Robinson third grade classroom to give art lessons.
Guerneville School receives Mix-It-Up Model School Honor
The Southern Poverty Law Center’s Teaching Tolerance program has named Guerneville School as a Mix It Up Model School for its exemplary efforts to foster respect and understanding among its students and throughout its campus during the 2014-15 school year.

Father Nayture Visits Classrooms
Bill Nay (aka Father Nayture) from Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods recently visited 4 classrooms (grades 1, 2, 3, 4/5) to discuss the flora and fauna of our area. Along with his vast experience and knowledge, he brought with him lots of specimens for students to examine.
Guerneville Gator Stars!
Guerneville Elementary School Wellness Committee
The GES Wellness Committee will start meeting in the beginning of February to set new goals and examine our school's existing Wellness Policy.
What role can parents play? As a parent, you know your children and their needs better than anyone. By getting involved with your local wellness team you can help create, monitor and enhance school policies that will improve their school environment.
The first meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 5th from 3 pm to 4 pm in the Kitchen Classroom Portable (next to the Preschool). Future meetings will be held the first Thursday of the month from 3 to 4 pm.

TEAcher of the Month
Writer's Club at Work
The After School Program's Writer's Club for middle school students meets each Tuesday in the computer lab. Retired English teacher Leslie Howell leads this intense group of writers from 1:30 - 4:30 PM. They will be publishing their works, 10 copies per author, and hold a book signing party during Guerneville School's Open House on May 21st from 5:00 - 6:00 PM in the library courtyard. Stop by, pick up a signed copy from your favorite new author, and encourage our next generation of writers.
